EA tries to win over Star Wars Battlefront II fans by boosting in-game rewards

EA has announced plans to offer more in-game rewards to Star Wars Battlefront II  players in what seems to be an attempt to win back support after a huge player backlash over paid loot boxes.

The company has been struggling to manage negative feedback after fans discovered loot boxes provided advantages to those willing to fork over extra cash. To quell the firestorm of anger, EA disabled the loot crates—though it’s not giving up on microtransactions completely.

“It’s been a busy few weeks for Star Wars™ Battlefront™ II, EA’s announcement states. “We’re excited to have launched the game to the world, but recognize that there have been some challenges along the way. We have learned a lot, and are making adjustments to the game to ensure the best experience possible.”

So far, the biggest adjustment increases in the number of credits players receive in-game. The end-of-round payout, which rewards players for doing well in the game and beating top performers, will increase and gamers can expect to earn three times more credits in the game’s Arcade Mode. Daily Login Crates will also include more crafting parts. EA said it will be rolling out new heroes, maps, and vehicles for free within the next few weeks.

“These are only some initial steps toward making much larger changes,” EA’s blog promised.
