Watch this poor dude face-plant in the middle of his friend’s wedding

Turns out, it’s more dangerous to participate in a wedding than one might think.

Forget about the fear of tripping while walking down the aisle or accidentally catching feels and ugly-crying in front of 100-plus people. The real danger lies in locking your knees during the ceremony.

YouTuber Noah Nicholls spread that gospel online on Thursday when he shared a terrifying—yet absolutely hilarious—video of himself face-planting in the middle of a wedding ceremony. One moment, the bride is happily stating her vows; the next moment, Nicholls is flying across the screen.

The video was posted to YouTube without comment and merely named, “I was in a wedding and smashed my face.” Viewers on his channel were so confused–why did this man just collapse without warning? 

Nicholls gave viewers answers after he posted the video to Reddit.  

“Pastor said he was going to give a ‘quick’ 20-minute sermon that became 40-plus minutes,” Nicholls said. “I had a terrible breakfast and next to no sleep, I locked my knees, and shortly after, woke up on the floor.”

Nicholls said he broke his nose, dislodged his front teeth, and badly injured his jaw. He shared a pretty graphic photo of the aftermath. 

Apparently, incidents like this happen more often than one would suspect. One YouTube commenter said they work in the wedding industry and have seen people pass out from locking their knees at a few different weddings. When people lock their knees for a long period of time, it throws off the body’s circulation, causing them to pass out. WeddingWire even has a whole forum dedicated to warning people not to lock their knees.

Now you know, folks. Keep your knees loose or risk becoming the laughingstock at the next wedding you attend.
